ML/MN Tritonswith the “easyselect” transmission (Identifiableby a two-piece tailshaft)are renowned for developing adrive linevibration on take off. This vibration is caused bya combination of the shorttailshaftlength and thedifference in angles between the universal joints and centre bearing. Fitting a 22mmtailshaftspacer on the diff side of the tailshaftreducesthe severity ofthisvibration. It doesn’t alwayseliminatethe vibration completely, butdoes help reduce itandtakes pressure off the centre bearing.Vehicles with the “Super Select Manual” or Automatic transmissions do not sufferfromthe same vibration. These vehicles have a one piece tailshaft from factory.
